Sony Media Cloud Services Complements New Camera to Cloud Functionality
with Preview of Ci Capture Mobile App at IBC
Capture & Share Mobile Production App Would Deliver Video Files Directly to Ci Cloud Platform
Sony Media Cloud Services previewed their new mobile capture and share app, Ci CaptureSM, at IBC on September 13, 2013. The prototype app is designed to allow everyone in the video production spectrum to capture footage and test shots from their mobile device and upload it directly into Ci, Sony’s video production and media collaboration cloud platform. Developed by Sony Media Cloud Services, Ci Capture complements the camera to cloud connectivity recently integrated into Ci’s platform with Sony’s wireless adapter, CBK-WA100. Registered Ci users would have the opportunity to beta test the new app when it becomes available and provide feedback as part of its on-going development.
“Our mission is to make the camera-to-cloud connection effortless for all camera types,” said Naomi Climer, president, Sony Media Cloud Services. “With Sony’s wireless adapter now using Ci, and the target capabilities of Ci Capture, our cloud ecosystem could help everyone – from the creative professional with an F65 to the film enthusiast with a phone – get their content into the cloud seamlessly.”
Ci Capture is designed to be a lightweight downloadable app that could be installed on mobile devices to shoot content directly for Ci. Users could capture footage using the camera on their mobile device and send it directly to Ci with one click — bypassing the need to download to a laptop or workstation first. The app prototype would initially be available on iOS with other platforms being considered for future launch. Following the results of testing, Sony Media Cloud Services would continue to evolve application functionality and develop plans to fully launch the Ci Capture service to its users in the US and Europe.
Ci Capture’s camera-to-cloud functionality is the latest innovation announced by Sony Media Cloud Services at IBC. Other production apps debuted at IBC include Ci RoughcutSM, the new sourcing and stitching application, as well as enhanced collaboration tools for audio and video review functionality. Sony Media Cloud Services also introduced a beta self-service model that allows users to sign up online to try the service for free.
