Metadata Upgrades to Make All Your Content Discoverable

Make Your Files Easier to Find Using Custom Metadata

Ci now supports custom metadata so that you can tag your files in a way that suits your organization’s needs and ensures that you and your team can find these files later. Adding custom metadata in Ci Workspace can be done in a couple easy steps:

  1. Select the file you want to tag and click “Metadata” in the action bar
  2. Click “Add New Field” to create a field name and enter a text value as your metadata tag and click “Save Metadata”

Saved metadata is searchable immediately. Plus, we’re working on some more exciting improvements (like updating metadata on multiple files) so stay tuned for updates!

In case you missed it, custom metadata can also be gathered from external and remote contributors using Ci File Request.

Any custom metadata tagged against your files can be found on the file preview page in the Overview section just above File Information.

Metadata Models That Your Network Admin and Contributors Will Love

Custom tagging is incredibly useful and enables teams to describe their content without friction and work the way they need to to get their jobs done. In smaller teams, it’s much easier to find the files you need because you always know who to ask. But when your content needs to be used outside of your team, consistent metadata tagging is crucial. Structured metadata is the cornerstone of visibility and workflow automation. That’s why we’ve released our new metadata model feature. Now you can setup metadata templates for Workspaces across your Company Network to encourage consistency, enrich your content and to lay the foundation for workflow automation.

Metadata models let you build out metadata templates with free text fields, checkbox options and drop down menus. You can even pre-populate sample inputs (i.e. YYYY-MM-DD Camera ##-Card XX-Shot ####) so contributors can follow consistent naming conventions.

Catalyst Users Collaborate Easier with Ci

The Ci team got together with our brothers and sisters in the Catalyst team to enable a direct integration of Catalyst Browse and Catalyst Prepare to Ci. Now, you can review, log, color correct your work-in-progress footage in Catalyst Browse, then upload directly to specific folders in your Ci Workspace to share via Mediabox or launch a VideoReview WorkSession.
