Since previewing the alpha version of MediaLog at IBC this year, we’ve been excited by our fans’ responses and we are taking your feedback to heart. Just wait until you Ci (see) what MediaLog can do now…
New to MediaLog
User-Defined Term Templates
Users can now create predefined “term templates” to standardize log names, descriptions, and labels. Setting up term templates is super easy. Simply select ‘Create Term Template’ to start and name your template. Then, select ‘Add Term’ to set up the term name. Terms can be color-coded for faster discovery and you can also set the description type to ‘Free text,’ “Single-select’ or ‘Multi-select’. Free text descriptions allow loggers to log any information they see fit. With single-select and multi-select you can pre-configure options and loggers can choose one or more of those values to use as a description. To enrich your logs even further, you can add labels that will also become search-ready metadata.
Publish Logs
To ensure that log entries are searchable after they’re completely logged, we are introducing a “Publish logs” feature. This helps ensure that log entries are not visible to other team members until the logger is ready to publish them. It also gives some discretion to loggers to decide what should be visible by other Workspace members.
Preview and Create New Clip from Search Results
When you want to search for log entries added via MediaLog, they can be viewed in detail from a link in the Context Panel. To make sure that you found the correct clip, we added a small preview area so you can playback the logged clip. Additionally, since you will be searching for log entries that actually want to use in some way, we’re also introducing the ‘Create New Clip from Log’ feature! Once you find the correct log entry, you can click (logo) to create a new clip from your log entry.
PRO TIP: The MediaLog clipping function allows you to generate multiple clips based on log entries. For example in a Sports scenario, you could create clips of all the ‘clutch’ moments (i.e. goals, saves, victory dances) logged in Medialog, then select the clips to launch a RoughCut WorkSession to render a quick highlight reel – all within Ci!
Keep Logging and Logging and…
Like our collaborative VideoReview and ImageReview apps, the MediaLog app is now available as a shared WorkSession for multiple members in your Ci Workspace. We also introduced a File tab where you can add more files to the MediaLog session. That means you can log on your own and keep logging with your peers in the same MediaLog session.
…here’s more neat stuff we added to MediaLog:
- WorkSession Status: Like all our apps we introduced WorkSession status like “Draft,” “Active,” and “Complete” so you can easily manage your WorkSessions.
- Log Groups to help better organize log entries. Log Groups can be published together or individually.
- The timeline scale automatically adjusts to the length of the clip
- Log terms that are dropped into the timeline now ‘stick’ to the frame that you’re currently on to make logging easier and more accurate.
In case you haven’t noticed, we are constantly making improvements to our apps and Ci so stay tuned for more upgrades coming soon.
