Ci Takes on NAB
(and Definitely in the Heavyweight Class)
Whether it’s Media Integration, Big Data or Cloud Servicing, NAB is always a buzz with the latest and greatest in content solutions – and this year was no exception. But there was a certain newcomer to the “Big” show who not only proved it could play the Sony way, it proved it was ready to play any way, anytime, anywhere…
Ci, the new cloud service from Sony, was announced on Sunday before the show by the President of Sony Media Cloud Services, Naomi Climer, at the Sony NAB Press Conference. By Monday, when the buzzer rang and the NAB doors swung open, the halls were already echoing with the news. Sony had entered the enterprise cloud market in a big way and the excitement was felt by all (especially by those sporting a Ci logoed shirt) as companies ranging from post houses and broadcasters, to studios and franchises edged in to listen, absorb and then “wow” at Ci’s collaborative platform and cool apps.
Mediabox flexed its large-format muscles for adoring crowds of creatives and executives alike, while Review&Approve got Broadcasters and Marketing Agencies giddy at the idea of arduous processes suddenly made ridiculously simple. The “oooo’s” and “ahhh’s” were fun to hear, but it was quotes like “this will allow us to do things we never thought about doing with our business” and “I’m not leaving NAB without this” that made us shed a small tear of joy. Okay, a big tear, but we did it while nobody was looking….
The chatter wasn’t confined to the booth either. “Ci” what some of the press had to say about us!
